As of 3.01.2001 strike are captured Minsk, all regional centers and the majority regional (more than 90 %). In strike take part more than 200.000 persons, from which about 100.000 entrepreneurs and 100.000 persons working on hiring. National strike will last some days (till 5.01.2001) and is caused by that the government refuses to carry out undertaken on stay of sanctions concerning entrepreneurs. Such problem sets to itself each, from my acquaintances who has visited at its meeting 20.09.2000. This day meeting of Central commission of Belarus on selections and carrying out of referenda (Central Committee) has taken place. Complaints of the unfulfilled candidates of the House of Representatives of National assembly were considered. On pages of some newspapers (not state), old Komsomol workers, former party bureaucrats, present “patriots” continually act. They name themselves that incorporated opposition, politicians of a new wave, initiatives. There is at us no incorporated opposition. There is a Belarus national front (BNF) and bores, type of present united civil party (UCP), the rests of the Supreme body 13 convocations. All together taken they unite no more than 1 % of the population of Belarus. As though they were not called, it is BNF under different sauces. Read more »
