Valery Levaneuski after two years of imprisonment left on freedom

On May, 15th, 2006 from jails has been released on term (on “call”) the chairman of  National Strike Committee of Belarus, political prisoner Valery Levanevuki.
Clearing occurred in very strange way. Usually from a colony of those who is released on term, bookkeeper and other officials of a colony who accept direct participation in clearing condemned and deliveries to him of corresponding documents (the passport, travel papers, the inquiry on clearing, etc.) release in day of clearing from 10.00 till since correctional facility administration, a special unit at 9.00 comes.

This day Valery Levaneuski have awaked before lifting, i.e. till 6.00. Documents, the inquiry on clearing have been given out to him, it have shipped in the medical service car (?!), have delivered on road service station of of Slonim and there have explained that he is free.

Valery Levaneuski’s requests to wait till 9.00 when will arrive his native to a colony, or to bring him to the house in Grodno, remained without satisfaction. Workers of colony  referred to any confidential duty regulations which to show to Levaneuski have refused.

According to the leader of entrepreneurs, such measures have been undertaken because this day in a colony on a meeting with it the considerable quantity meeting, including friends, politicians, businessmen and diplomats planned to arrive.
But despite it, in Slonim Valery was met nearby by 30 persons who have somehow learnt about plans of administration and have changed the route to meet in Slonim.

Among meeting there was the spouse and sons of Levaneuski, Alexander Vasilev, entrepreneurs from many regions of Belarus, representatives of mass-media, including local newspaper «the Newspaper Slonimsky».

First of all after clearing chairman of Strike Committee  has visited a tomb of the father which has died recently and has called in on a visit to mum.

Valery Levaneuski thanks all representatives of mass media, entrepreneurs, citizens of Belarus, representatives of a diplomatic corps, public associations and political parties for that moral and psychological support which they rendered him and his family all these two years while it was in imprisonment places.

Let’s remind, that the chairman of National Strike committee of entrepreneurs, a member of Council of civil initiatives «Free Belarus» Valery Levaneuski and the vice-president of National Strike committee  Alexander Vasilev  on September, 7th, 2004 the Lenin regional court of Grodno has sentenced  to two years of imprisonment, with punishment serving in a colony of the general mode. The court recognised as their guilty of drawing of the public insult to the president of Belarus, interfaced to charge in grave crime fulfilment (item 368, p. 2 of Criminal code of Belarus). In a sentence it is underlined, that in a phrase «Come and tell, that you against that at your expense someone went to Austria to have a rest, ski, live happily», printed in a leaflet (the Address in the Internet http://www.levonevski.net/zone/docvip.htm), contains the insult of honour and Alexander Lukashenka’s advantage. Supervising complaints addressed to the chairman of the Grodno regional court, the chairman of the Supreme Court of Belarus also have not given results - the sentence is left without change. Alexander Vasilev have condemned also for the organisation on May, 1st, 2004 in Grodno mass protest action. In July, 2005 Vasiliev on amnesty hreleased from the Minsk colony â„–1.

Valery Levaneuski has been arrested on May, 1st, 2004 for the organisation of large meeting against poverty in Grodno, condemned for 15 days of arrest, in a consequence 15.05.2004 has been translated in detention centre  of Grodno, and from 18.05.2004 contained in Prison of №1 of Grodno.

Valery Levaneuski during stay in the Ivatsevichsky colony â„– 22 repeatedly spent long hunger-strikes as a sign of the protest against infringement of its rights and the rights of other condemned. The next hunger-strike the political prisoner declared on January, 7th, 2006 and has suspended on January, 23rd, 2006, then after a premise in a penal insulator he has renewed hunger-strike. The entrepreneur demanded to cancel unfair collectings from colony administration. It was a question of an interdiction for appointment to a family, on transfers and purchase of products to prison shop. In December, 2005 Levonevsky have not released from a colony even on funeral of the father.
